Victorian streets
By 1880 the first streets had begun to go up around Upper and Lower Grangetown, and the area kept growing from there. Grange Gardens, a Victorian park created on land given in 1892, sits among them with homes on every side, and St Paul's Church on Paget Street was built between 1889 and 1902.

Twelve residential streets here were retrofitted with rain gardens and 135 new trees under the Greener Grangetown scheme, which sends rainwater straight into the River Taff rather than through the sewers, and added a community orchard and a cycle street along the way. Grangetown also has its own railway station, on Penarth Road.
