Pulteney's new town
Bath is the only entire city in Britain designated a World Heritage Site, and Bathwick, planned in the 18th century as a new town across Pulteney Bridge, holds some of its most striking Georgian streets. Great Pulteney Street is the centrepiece: 100 feet wide and lined with houses of three full storeys over basements. Further north the scale drops to the less formal terraces of Bathwick Street, then to Victorian and later streets running down to the river.
